The seventh and eighth graders at our school wrote poetry for Holy week. Some of it made me cry. I'm typing up a few pieces anonymously here -- but thank God for His work in these students' hearts and pray that He will give them the courage to live in the freedom Jesus' death and resurrection gives.

The Crucifixion

No one has gone through
what you have for us.
We will always be
grateful.
God has given you to us.
He turned away,
but we watched
and cried.

The Cross

I was cut down
I was split in two
And crossed up and down

I was taken to a city
in front of a royal Person
when I saw Jesus, I took pity

Then, I was carried
to a hill top.
There they stopped.

Then Jesus was hung
so many people
sung

As Jesus died
Many people
cried

Judas

I have sinned
for the man I betray
is the King of Kings.
For I have forsaken Jesus.
What will my friends think?
For I am a disgrace
I have taken Jesus in
for coins.
For what I'm about to do
I will not
enter the gates of Heaven.

Holy Week

The last week of Christ's life
He is dying for our sins and lives
He died on the cross for our sins
He paid for our debts.

He went through lots of pain
Just to help us gain.
His own Father turned his face away, you see
He did this just for you and me!
